Now I was having fun. I lost weight. My belt size went from 38 inch to 34. I started to feel life was worth living again. To top that, I had spent a lot less on those bikes than other people my age spend on doctors and prescription drugs, without getting the same result. I find it difficult convincing any one else of the benefit of e-bikes on health alone, beside the benefit to the environment, the economy etc, but I thoroughly convinced myself. I was on a roll. When I saw a 20" folding e-bike with a battery hidden in the frame and a very peppy 350w geared hub motor, I decided to add a BAFANG mid frame motor with its own powerful battery on the rear luggage rack. On very steep hills I now could use both motors for incredible power uphill. But then barreling down that same hill I found the regular disc brakes were inadequate and upgraded both with hydraulic disc brakes. Also changing the handle bar for a better posture to deal with the increased power and other improvements made this a pretty expensive little hill climber that leaves most other bikes in the dust on uphill climbs. The 20 inch wheels of course still are a definite limtitation on rough country roads.
